Bowen Therapy
» Jenny Jenkins
Jenny Jenkins
Bowen Therapist
Certificate IV Bowen Therapy, Full Member of the Bowen Assoc Australia, Full Member of Bowtech, the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia.
Jenny was so impressed with her very first Bowen treatment and amazed at the effectiveness of the treatment, she commenced training to become a Bowen therapist and has never looked back. Her passion is helping others.
Bowen Therapy is a soft tissue therapy, restoring balance via the autonomic nervous system. It is a dynamic holistic treatment that treats the whole person, aims to treat the cause of problems rather than the symptom. It uses the body’s innate healing ability to deliver signals to the nervous system to specific locations and the body does the rest to start the healing process. The Bowen technique was created by the late Thomas Bowen from Geelong Australia in the 1950s.
Gentle moves are performed over your connective tissue, muscles and tendons to help the body to relax, repair and reset itself. It is a gentle form of therapy suitable for all age groups from newborn babies through to the elderly. It takes your body out of the ‘fight or flight response’ and into your ‘rest, relax and digest response’ state.
During a Bowen treatment, Jenny helps with a range of health issues, both acute and chronic, from relieving pain including:
Back and sciatic pain, neck and shoulder pain, hip, knee and ankle injuries, headache and migraines, digestive and bowel problems, menstrual and hormonal irregularities, RSI and carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow.
It is also useful for respiratory conditions like asthma and gastrointestinal disorders like irritable bowel syndrome. Bowen also helps with stress, fatigue, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure and flexibility.
Jenny treats patients at our Wavell Heights Clinic.

Michael McCloskey
Certificate IV Remedial Therapies (Kinesiology), Certificate IV Basic Kinesiology Programme Kinesiology Kinesiology Schools Australia, Diploma in Kinesiology Kinesiology Schools Australia, Mentor Certificate Australian Institute of Kinesiologists Ltd, Instructor Certificate Neural Organisational Therapy The Academy of Applied Bio-Neurology Australasia
Michael McCloskey is a highly trained and experienced kinesiologist. Michael was drawn to the field of kinesiology over 20 years ago after experiencing first-hand its power for healing. He trained under one of Brisbane’s leading practitioners, Danny Liddell and has been dedicated to healing people ever since.
Michael is a certified expert in Neural Integration and control and has a special interest in treating children’s learning difficulties, chronic pain in the elderly and stress.
Life is better when your body is Pain Free and Balanced.
AREAS OF SPECIALITY
- Pain relief and management
- Neural Integration and Control
- Learning difficulties in children
- Chronic pain in the elderly
- Stress Relief
- Digestive dysfunctions
TREATING LEARNING DIFFICULTIES
Kinesiology works to address an over-active stress response system where the body is in a constant state of high alert. Children can be stuck in this state which decreases the ability for the brain to receive the signals it needs for optimal learning. Kinesiology switches off this unwanted energy pathway, inhibiting retained neo-natal reflexes and allowing for a calmer, more effective learning experience. Michael has a keen interest in helping children with learning difficulties and his skills in this area are highly regarded by his peers.
CHRONIC PAIN IN THE ELDERLY
It is Michael’s belief that everyone can benefit from kinesiology from the very young to the elderly. As they get older, people often suffer unnecessarily from chronic pain associated with the natural process of aging. Common ailments such as aching joints and back pain can be effectively treated using kinesiology. Kinesiology can also help the elderly with focus and concentration. Michael uses specialised, advanced kinesiology techniques to provide the foundation and the basis for everyone to perform at their peak ability.
STRESS RELIEF
Humans are wired to protect themselves in dangerous situations where they feel fear – the heart rate increases, blood is sent away from the digestive system to the limbs and higher-executive thinking is swapped for fight or flight. The modern world is full of perceived threats and we can become stuck in overdrive. Kinesiology techniques balance the nervous system, correct the energy flow and enable calm to return.
KINESIOLOGY IS ALL ABOUT BALANCE
An imbalance in one part of your body creates imbalances elsewhere and any pain from past traumatic experiences is often stored somewhere inside you, blocking vital energy flow. Kinesiology is the science of energy balancing and is grounded in the study of anatomy and physiology. When neurological messaging is functioning correctly and when the physical, mental, emotional, chemical and electrical systems are balanced, the body’s natural energy systems create a healthy, well being.
