What makes us different

Two kinds of Massage in Brisbane, and we specialise in the one that heals

Most Brisbane Massage Clinics focus on Relaxation Massage. A nice hour, a calm room, and you go home. That's fine if you just want to unwind. But if you're in pain, injured, swollen or recovering, you need something more.

At Brisbane Livewell Clinic, our focus is the clinical, Remedial style of Massage that works on the problem. We also offer Relaxation Massage for the days you need it. Our patients travel from across the Brisbane Northside and Brisbane Southside because both types are done properly here.

Healing Massage

Remedial style Massage that works on the problem

Assessment based Massage delivered by our qualified Remedial Massage Therapists. We build Remedial elements into each of these types, so BLC classifies them as Remedial. That means they may be eligible for health fund rebates. Always check with your health fund before booking.

Relaxation Massage

Gentler Massage for stress and wellbeing

Flowing, calming Massage styles that help you switch off. These three aren't classified as Remedial, so health fund rebates don't apply. Many of our regulars use a Relaxation Massage in between their Remedial sessions.

Why Brisbane Livewell Clinic

Four reasons our patients book Massage Brisbane with us

We run our Massage service the way we run the rest of our Clinic. Every session begins with real questions about your body and your goals. Every session ends with guidance you can use.

1 · Approach

Assessment every session

We ask about your goals, symptoms and history before you get on the table. That is how healing Massage works.

2 · Qualifications

Qualified Remedial Massage Therapists

All three of our therapists hold Diplomas of Remedial Massage. Fiona also holds a dedicated Certificate of Lymphatic Drainage Massage and is a member of ANTA.

3 · Rebates

HICAPS on the spot claiming

Most of our healing Massage types may be claimable through your private health extras. Check with your health fund before booking to confirm what you're covered for, then pay only the gap at the Clinic.

4 · Whole patient

Natural Therapies and Allied Health under one roof

Pain, fatigue and inflammation often have roots outside the muscles. Our Naturopaths, Clinical Nutritionists, Counsellors and Hypnotherapist work alongside Massage when that suits your case.

What our patients say

Real stories from our Brisbane Massage patients

Rainie is the best Massage Therapist I've ever been to. She has a sixth sense and just knows exactly what your body needs, from pressure to technique. Her warm bubbly personality makes you feel happy as soon as you see her.

Wavell Heights patient, Google review

I've been seeing Fiona for my Massages for a few years now. I have very persistent tightness in my neck and back which causes me pain, and her Massages are the only thing that provide relief. She's hands down the best therapist in Brisbane.

Cannon Hill patient, Google review

I've been coming to Massage Therapist Rainie for several months and have found her to be incredibly knowledgeable, calming and intuitive. My favourite by far is her Lymphatic Massage.

Your appointment

What happens at your Massage appointment

Every Massage at Brisbane Livewell Clinic follows the same four steps, adjusted to the service you book and what your body needs on the day.

1

Arrive and check in

Arrive five minutes early. Bring your health fund card if you're claiming a rebate through HICAPS on the day.

2

Talk through your goals

Your Massage Therapist asks about your goals, symptoms, pressure preferences and any relevant history before treatment starts.

3

Your Massage

The session is shaped around the service you booked and what you told us. Your therapist reads the tissue and adjusts as they go.

4

Aftercare and next steps

Hydration, movement and stretching advice, plus a recommended interval for your next Massage or a Wellness Plan if you want one.

Ongoing care

Wellness Plans for regular Massage patients

Our Practitioners design a Wellness Plan for each patient at the end of their first appointment, or early in their care. The Plan may be written or talked through.

It's a simple guide to what your Practitioner recommends next, how often to book, and which therapies work together for your situation. It's not a subscription and there's no lock in.

Massage packages for ongoing therapy

If your Wellness Plan includes regular Massage, you can purchase a discounted Massage package to cover a course of sessions. Packages are the most cost effective way to stick with a treatment plan over weeks or months.

Ask your Massage Therapist or Reception about packages for Remedial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Myofascial Release Therapy or Pregnancy Massage.

Investment

Massage Brisbane pricing

Pricing is the same at both Clinics. Cannon Hill has concession rates for eligible patients. The 30 minute Massage is for subsequent sessions only, after you've done a full length first appointment. Packages and Wellness Plans offer better value for ongoing care.

Frequently asked questions

Your Massage Brisbane questions answered

What is healing Massage therapy?+

Healing Massage is our name for clinical, Remedial style Massage that targets a specific issue. At Brisbane Livewell Clinic, it covers Remedial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Myofascial Release Therapy and Indian Head Massage with Remedial Neck and Shoulders.

These are different from Relaxation Massage, which helps you unwind but isn't focused on treating pain or recovery.

Which Massage suits pain, tension or recovery?+

For pain, injury or stuck muscles, Remedial Massage is the usual starting point. It is a clinical Massage with assessment, targeted treatment and deep tissue work. Cupping and dry needling are available as Remedial add ons.

If Remedial hasn't shifted chronic tightness, Myofascial Release Therapy may be a better fit. Both are rebate eligible.

Which Massage suits stress and unwinding?+

For stress and unwinding, Relaxation Massage is the classic choice. It is a flowing, full body Massage designed to calm the nervous system.

Indian Head Massage with Remedial Neck and Shoulders is another option for stress that shows up as tension headaches, jaw tightness or mental fatigue. It has the added benefit of being rebate eligible.

Is Massage Brisbane Australia covered by Medicare?+

Massage therapy is usually not covered by Medicare, unless your GP has prepared a Chronic Disease Management Plan (formerly known as an Enhanced Primary Care Plan) that specifically includes Massage Therapy. Most Australian private health insurers cover Remedial Massage, Lymphatic Drainage Massage, Pregnancy Massage, Myofascial Release Therapy and Indian Head Massage with Remedial under extras policies, subject to your level of cover.

Check with your health fund before booking to confirm what you're covered for. HICAPS is available at both Clinics for on the spot claiming.

Do I need a referral to book a Massage?+

A referral isn't required to book Massage at Brisbane Livewell Clinic. You can book online or call Reception on (07) 3861 5881.

If you're recovering from surgery, pregnant, managing cancer treatment or have a diagnosed condition, we recommend coordinating with your GP or specialist first.

How often should I book a Massage?+

Frequency depends on your reason for booking. For acute pain or injury, weekly for two to three weeks then spacing out is common. For chronic tension or postural issues, fortnightly for four to six weeks. For general wellbeing, every four to six weeks is typical.

Your Massage Therapist will recommend a schedule and may include it in your Wellness Plan.

What is the difference between healing and Relaxation Massage?+

Healing Massage is clinical and outcome focused. It involves assessment and targeted work for pain, injury or dysfunction. It is rebate eligible under most health funds.

Relaxation Massage is gentler and focused on stress relief. It isn't rebate eligible. Both are valuable, but they serve different goals.

Who offers Deep Tissue Massage in Brisbane at your Clinics?+

Deep tissue work is built into a Remedial Massage. Fiona, Rainie and Luana all offer deep tissue techniques, adjusted to your tolerance and goals.

You don't need to book a separate Deep Tissue Massage. Book a Remedial Massage and discuss your pressure preferences with your therapist at the start of the session.

Can cupping or dry needling be claimed on my health fund?+

Cupping and dry needling are included as add ons within a Remedial Massage session. They are not billed separately. The Remedial Massage component itself may be eligible for a rebate through your health fund, subject to your policy.

Check with your health fund before booking to confirm.

When is the 30 minute Massage appointment available?+

The 30 minute Massage is for subsequent appointments only, after you've done a full length first session with your Massage Therapist. The longer first session gives your therapist time to assess properly and set a plan before the shorter follow ups.

Can I book a Pregnancy Massage in my first trimester?+

Fiona Woodhouse at our Cannon Hill Clinic offers Pregnancy Massage across all trimesters, including the first. Rainie at Wavell Heights prefers not to provide Pregnancy Massage during the first trimester.

If you're in your first trimester and would like to book, choose Fiona or call Reception on (07) 3861 5881 for guidance.

What should I wear to a Massage appointment?+

Comfortable, loose clothing that is easy to change out of. For Remedial, Lymphatic Drainage, Pregnancy and Relaxation Massage, patients undress to their comfort level with towel draping throughout.

For Thai Massage, patients stay fully clothed in loose comfortable clothing. For Indian Head Massage, clothing stays on but natural oils may be used on the scalp.

Is Brisbane Livewell Clinic a day spa?+

Brisbane Livewell Clinic is a Natural Therapies and Allied Health Clinic. We don't offer spa treatments, body scrubs, couples Massage or beauty services.

Our Massage rooms are peaceful, but the focus is clinical healing Massage, not a spa experience.

What is a Wellness Plan?+

A Wellness Plan is a written or discussed plan your Practitioner puts together for you after your first appointment or early in your care. It covers what your Practitioner recommends next, how often to book and which therapies work together for your situation.

If your Plan includes regular Massage, you can purchase a discounted Massage package to cover a course of sessions.

Can I combine Massage with other therapies?+

Many of our patients combine Massage with Naturopathy, Clinical Nutrition, Counselling or Hypnotherapy under one roof. Each therapy is a separate booking.
