Weight Loss Strategies: Let’s Shake It Off

Fad diets are only trends that are not of much use at the end of the day. These diets can even be detrimental to your health. Over 2.3 million Australians of age 15 and above were found to be on some diet for weight loss or health issues, in 2011-12. Losing weight can be very hard if you do not have the right information.

Instead of  exercising for ridiculously long hours or cutting down essential nutrients from your diet, follow these steps to “Shake” the Weight Away

Remove the juice and add green tea.

Liquid juices and other drinks not only have a larger amount of calories but are also insufficient. This makes us order another serving, resulting in even more calories. Instead, if we replace these with green tea, the calories are burned. Researchers found that a mixture of green tea catechins, calcium and caffeine increased activity by 4.6% in a study. This increase in physical activity increases the calorie lost and helps reduce weight significantly.

Replace your chocolate stash with fruits

If the stash of chocolates in your workplace drawer or your fridge at home is not dark chocolate, the chances are that they are full of calories that will take you hours to get rid of. Instead, for your mid-afternoon sugar rush, munch on a juicy apple or a bunch of delicious grapes.

Lift some weight and strengthen your body

Lifting weights works in two ways. First, exercise as a form of physical activity makes you lose weight. Second, it increases your muscle strength, making your body active and indirectly increase your ability to work out more often. It is like a feedback loop, the more you do it, the more you can and so on.

Lifting is not easy, though. Prepare your body first with some push-ups or a few squats. Then start with the lifting. Do this at least three to four times a week, and you will start noticing an improvement in your physique and weight loss regime.

Brush your teeth after dinner

Ever had the urge to eat something while going to bed? Everyone has! And, we usually end up having dessert or high-calorie juices at night time. To avoid this, make brushing a habit. Brush your teeth within an hour of dinner to minimise the chances of a trip to the refrigerator.
