PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

PCOS includes at least three distinct subtypes. Insulin-resistant PCOS, the most common, is driven by elevated insulin stimulating androgen production in the ovaries. Adrenal PCOS involves elevated DHEAS from the adrenal glands. Inflammatory PCOS is driven by systemic low-grade inflammation. Our Naturopaths distinguish between these subtypes using DUTCH testing and fasting insulin assessment before recommending any natural treatment.

Thyroid Conditions – Hypothyroid, Hashimoto’s and Hyperthyroid

Both hypothyroid and hyperthyroid presentations benefit from naturopathic assessment that goes beyond TSH alone. Our Naturopaths review the full thyroid panel including Free T3, Free T4, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies, and investigate nutritional drivers including selenium, iodine, zinc and iron. They work alongside your GP or endocrinologist at all times.

Perimenopause and Menopause

Most women entering perimenopause experience hormonal volatility as progesterone falls first and oestrogen fluctuates unpredictably. Standard blood panels frequently return results within the reference range during perimenopause even when symptoms are severe. Our Naturopaths assess where each patient is in this transition using DUTCH testing and build a Wellness Plan around the specific hormonal pattern.

Fertility and Preconception Care

The three to six months before conception are the most clinically significant window in preconception care. Egg quality, nutrient stores, thyroid function and hormonal timing can all be meaningfully improved through natural treatment during this window. Our Naturopaths support women trying to conceive naturally and those undergoing IVF, working alongside fertility specialists.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis affects an estimated one in nine Australian women. Naturopathic natural treatment addresses oestrogen clearance via the liver and gut, systemic inflammation, immune dysregulation and prostaglandin-driven pain. Our Naturopaths work alongside gynaecologists to provide complementary support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the questions we hear most often, and our practitioners will answer any follow-up enquiries as soon as possible.

Can a Naturopath help with PCOS in Brisbane?
A Naturopath can support PCOS by identifying the specific PCOS subtype through testing and then targeting the underlying driver with natural treatment. Insulin-resistant PCOS, adrenal PCOS and inflammatory PCOS each require a different approach.
What is DUTCH testing and why would a Naturopath use it?
DUTCH testing is a comprehensive urine-based hormone test that measures oestrogen metabolites, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol across the full daily pattern. It provides a more detailed picture of hormonal function than standard blood pathology.
Can a Naturopath help if my TSH is normal but I still feel unwell?
A Naturopath can investigate the full thyroid panel and nutritional cofactors even when TSH is within the standard reference range. Our Naturopaths look at Free T3 conversion, reverse T3 dominance and nutrient status rather than relying on TSH alone.
How long does naturopathic hormonal treatment take?
Hormonal conditions typically respond over three to six months as the hormonal cycle adjusts to the Wellness Plan. Your Naturopath will give you a realistic timeframe at your first consultation.
Can a Naturopath support me during IVF?
Naturopathic IVF support focuses on egg quality optimisation before stimulation, uterine lining support and stress management. Our Naturopaths communicate with your IVF clinic to ensure there are no interactions between naturopathic supplements and your IVF medication protocol.
