Introduction
Massage therapy is a powerful tool for relieving stress, supporting recovery, and improving overall well-being. At Brisbane Livewell Clinic, we combine time-tested techniques with modern practices to deliver care that’s tailored to your body and goals. Our Massage Therapists Fiona Woodhouse and Rainie Chaisurayakan are committed to helping you feel better—physically and mentally—through focused, professional treatment.
Our Massage Services
We provide a broad range of massage therapies that fall into two main categories—Remedial or Health-Related, and Relaxation.
Remedial or Health-Related Massage (Eligible for Rebates)
1. Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage targets specific areas of dysfunction or pain. It is particularly useful for injury recovery, muscular imbalances, posture issues or chronic pain.
Note: this is not a full-body massage but focuses on your specific pain or injury.
Dry Needling or Cupping are available as an add-on to your Remedial Massage if required. Both Dry Needling and Cupping are tools that can help release deeper tension and promote healing.
2. Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage supports the changing body of expectant mothers, easing discomfort and improving mobility.
Note: Out of caution, Rainie does not provide Pregnancy Massage in the first trimester.
3. Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Lymphatic Drainage Massage, often called Lymph Massage or Lymph Drainage Massage, encourages healthy circulation and detoxification through gentle rhythmic pressure. This is a very light pressure massage involving circular motions using the fingertips of the Massage Therapist. It’s incredibly relaxing with amazing health benefits as well.
4. Indian Head Massage with Remedial Neck & Shoulders
Indian Head Massage targets tension in the head, neck, and shoulders; helps relieve mental fatigue, migraines and neck tightness. The most relaxing massage many of our patients have ever experienced.
Note: This involves the use of oils by your Massage Therapist on your scalp (that may get into your hair), so please consider an evening consultation so you can shower at home afterwards.
Massage for Relaxation
1. Relaxation Massage
During Relaxation Massage, our Massage Therapist uses gentle, flowing strokes to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm.
2. Swedish Massage
Swedish Massage is a classic massage style that blends light to medium pressure for both circulation and relaxation.
3. Thai Massage
Thai Massage combines acupressure and stretching to increase mobility and energy flow.
4. Reflexology
Reflexology works on reflex points on the feet, hands, or ears to influence other parts of the body and encourage relaxation.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What should I expect during my first massage appointment?
During your first session, your therapist will ask about your health history, current symptoms, and any specific goals or problem areas. They’ll then tailor the treatment accordingly. You’ll be guided through the process with clear communication to ensure comfort and effectiveness.
2. What types of massage are eligible for health fund rebates?
Only Remedial Massage qualifies for private health insurance rebates. This includes therapies for pain relief, injury recovery, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Your Massage Therapist must be registered and will issue a receipt that can be submitted to your insurer. Make sure you tell our Reception staff the name of your health fund, so they can put this on your receipt.
3. How long are your massage sessions and how often should I come?
Sessions are usually 60 or 90 minutes. Some patients book regular 30-minute appointments for maintenance or focused treatment. Frequency depends on your goals—some benefit from weekly appointments, others every three to four weeks for prevention.
4. Can I request a specific massage style or technique during my session?
Our therapists are happy to accommodate specific preferences and will also make recommendations based on what your body needs. You can discuss options such as cupping, dry needling or gentler techniques at any time.
5. Is massage therapy suitable if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Pregnancy Massage is one of the safest and most effective ways to support physical and emotional comfort during pregnancy. It helps with fluid retention, lower back pain, and stress. For breastfeeding mothers, massage can relieve upper back and neck tension caused by posture.
6. Will my massage be painful if I choose remedial or deep tissue?
Remedial massage may involve some discomfort, especially if there is chronic tension or injury. However, your therapist will always work within your pain threshold and check in throughout the session. It’s a controlled, targeted release—not an aggressive or overwhelming experience. Many patients report feeling looser and lighter even after deep work.
7. Do you offer massage therapy for teenagers or younger patients?
Massage can be beneficial for teenagers experiencing growth-related aches, sports injuries, or study-related tension, and we do offer this to our younger patients. We require parental consent for anyone under 18, and all therapies are tailored to the age, condition, and comfort level of the young person. Our Massage Therapist may ask that you stay in the room for the comfort of your child.
8. Can massage therapy help if I sit at a desk all day?
Sitting for long periods can cause tightness in the neck, shoulders, hips, and lower back. Our Remedial Massage Therapists often work with office workers to release these areas and improve posture. Sessions can include techniques to lengthen shortened muscles and restore balance.
9. What’s the difference between Swedish Massage and Relaxation Massage?
Swedish Massage uses structured strokes that help with circulation and muscle relaxation, while Relaxation Massage is gentler and focuses on calming the nervous system. Both styles are suitable for patients who prefer a non-deep approach and want to improve general wellbeing.
10. How do I know which type of massage is right for me?
If you’re not sure, choose Remedial Massage when booking and your therapist will assess your needs during your first session. We’ll work with your goals—whether they relate to pain, injury, relaxation, or mobility—and adjust techniques accordingly.
11. Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
Gift Vouchers can be purchased online or in-clinic and are available for any massage service. They make a thoughtful gift for birthdays, holidays, or to support someone going through a tough time. Just select the service or dollar amount when ordering.
12. What happens if I need to cancel or change my booking?
We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to offer your appointment to someone else. Cancellations with less notice may incur a cancellation fee, in line with our booking policy. You can call our Clinic to cancel and reschedule or do so online.
13. How do I book with a Massage Therapist at Brisbane Livewell Clinic?
Booking is simple. Just click the button below to choose your Clinic—Wavell Heights or Cannon Hill—select your Massage Therapist and a time that suits you. If you’re unsure what service to book, give our Reception Team a call on (07) 3861 5881 and we’ll guide you from there.
Please note: Fiona at our Cannon Hill Clinic is often booked up weeks in advance, so we suggest you book early. If you can’t get in to see her when you wish, consider Rainie at our Wavell Heights Clinic, who has been trained by Fiona in many of our specialist areas such as Lymphatic Drainage Massage.
