Cameron’s desperation
Cameron (44), came to the clinic after experiencing symptoms of bowel disease periodically for 10 years.
His doctor prescribed painkillers and steroids to stop the pain and the bleeding. Because the symptoms were not severe, Cameron took no other action, such as improving his diet or lifestyle. Nor did he consult a natural therapist, even though one of his friends had advised him to see us five years previously.
Cameron developed bowel cancer, and the specialist he was referred to discovered that it had spread to his liver. He was told he had perhaps six months to live, whether or not he had surgery.
However, with a wife, two two young children, and a comfortable lifestyle that included a new house on the beach, a boat, Cameron was certainly not ready to die.
He was ready to do whatever was necessary to heal the cancer, but tragically, it was too late.
One in three men are diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetimes, and at increasingly younger ages. Don't let it be you.
The most often-repeated story in today's society?
“Yesterday, my neighbour suffered a heart attack while mowing the lawn. He died - but he was only 59!
It's a shock becasue he always looked fit. Poor bloke was planning an extended overseas trip with his wife, too.”
One man dies of a heart attack every five minutes in Australia, every 34 seconds in the USA.
Half of these attacks occur without clear physical warning symptoms.
The second most-common story?
“I've been feeling unwell. I am tired, depressed and unhappy. I don’t know what's wrong, but I can’t afford to see a naturopath because I'm saving for an extension on my house.”
The big question is: can you afford not to? Those symptoms may reveal a lot about your general state of health: extreme tiredness, for example, can be a warning sign of heart weakness. Prompt intervention by a skilled practitioner can help ensure you don't become another statistic.

Ponder on these thoughts
Why do we let ourselves get so sick even though we live in a country of abundance?
Westerners who travel to the East are often amazed at how happy the people are even though they have little in the way of material possessions. Their secret lies in the fact that life is all they have and health and happiness are the only things that matter.
Western visitors are also astonished to see very elderly people walking long distances, bearing heavy bundles of wood on their shoulders. How is this possible when affluent 60-year-olds at home are so crippled with osteoarthritis they can barely move across a room?
We spend money on maintaining and renovating our homes, servicing our cars, buying new clothes, grooming our hair, skin and nails, but often see little value in spending money maintaining our health. Yet caring for your health should always be your first priority.
One of our patients, Julie, sets aside 10 per cent of her family’s income for natural health care. She told us that since the Brisbane Livewell Clinic has been caring for her family’s health, no one had been sick. Quite a reversal, when you consider that previously, her children succumbed to different infections three or four times a year. This makes Julie's life so much easier as she doesn't have to take time off from work to care for her children and run them around to doctors. Everyone in the family is much happier, and Julia's husband is so impressed by the results of our treatments that he has decided to see us to ensure he doesn't become like his father, who is now spending his life savings on drugs and surgery just to keep him alive.
How you want your health to be is how it will be
Your body was born with the amazing power to heal itself, given the right conditions. No matter where you are in life, no matter how ill you are, no matter what you have done to contribute to your state of illness, your body's intelligence can harness its innate power to repair the damage and return to a state of health.
How you want your health to be is how it will be: you are in control of your health state, you have free choice between health and illness. So choose to live with health and vitality. Refuse to live with illness, fatigue, depression and chronic disease.
Take every possible step to to prevent disease. It you are sick, use drugs only as a last option. Drugs address the symptoms: they don't cure the disease, and in fact often produce a range of other symptoms through unpleasant side effects. Instead, seek the cause of the disease and treat it.
When you set your priorities right and take off on your journey to optimal health, you come to realise that being healthy, happy and vibrant is what life is all about.
