I was born in the USA of Cheyenne and Navajo Indian ancestry. My Indian name is Gathering Feather. My Mother spoke the Spanish of New Mexico and her mother was the same. She in turn was the daughter of a woman purchased by a Spaniard to be a concubine. She spoke Cheyenne – the language of this Great Plains Indian Nation. These people were the children of the Great White Spirit who taught them the natural way of life and healing. They understood that healing is something that must be done in harmony with life – a sacred activity. This is my ancestry.

As a young woman I received a vision that changed my life forever. I was working in a garden alongside a person and through working and talking the person received a healing. Early on the vision led to working with people who were suffering addictions. The vision became stronger and I was led to study counselling at the University of New Mexico. During this time I worked with people suffering addictions, mental health issues and the elderly. I gave talks to small groups on healthy recipes from whole foods and developed an exercise program for the mentally ill.

A new twist came to my life when I came to Australia. Almost unbelievably I left the calling of my life to become a mother. Four children were born naturally and two of them were born in my lounge room at home. Somehow the vision invaded this part of my life as well and the Great White Spirit came to Australia inside of me. The practice of health and healing became the energy of everything I did. I did not practice sickness. My children did not know sickness. Healing words and practices sustained our lives.

The vision led me to establish a charity organisation with my husband in the Ipswich area. It was all about helping people up rather than helping them out. This means that people were invited to work alongside others to gather foods, present them in super market style so others could select their own groceries. Those involved experienced family and healing. They had the vehicle to care for others and many developed a sense of self worth and dignity.

‘The leaves are for the healing of the nations’ (Revelation 20.2). When the people got the vision and were doing it for themselves the vision urged me to pursue healing. I have always loved nature and became avidly interested in herbal medicine. In the first instance this meant spending five years focusing on botanic activities that included giving talks to small groups about organic gardening, permaculture practices, natural gardening practices, the importance of organic practices and our health, herbal medicine and even creating botanical art.

My practice focus is positive mental and emotional health, speaking life to those faced with chronic illness, depression, anxiety, cancer and working in harmony with the Creator and Healer Spirit. Illness is as much a spiritual issue as it is a physical one. Healing involves knowing who you are and living, breathing, thinking and speaking yourself into a healthy being.

Herbal medicine, nutritional medicine, counselling, and renewal of the mind, health planning and prayer have power to free you into health. The vision of the garden is about you and I working together planting seeds of healing, pulling weeds, harvesting fruit of healthy life. My aim is to help you reconnect with your true self so that healing can take place.

I will be available for appointment on Monday and Tuesday between 9:30 am to 7:30pm at the Brisbane Livewell Clinic. Apart from Naturopathic General Practise which assists every aspect of your healing, I also offer marriage counselling, addiction counselling, and suicide intervention. I can also offer home visits to people who can not travel.
